Fig. 1. Anteroposterior VFSS images show decreased mobility of vocal fold during phonation. The evaluation of vocal fold movement was performed according to the specified protocol during VFSS to figure out the presence of Vocal fold paralysis. The examiner asked the patient to make an ‘e’ sound about 2-3 seconds, at least 3 times during VFSS and recorded the images. VFSS showed the decreased mobility of the vocal fold of three patients compared to the patient that shows symmetrically abductive and adductive motion of the vocal folds. The moving vocal folds (white lines) are presented on VFSS images that were captured in the resting status and during the maneuver. The paralyzed vocal folds in the VFSS coincide with the side of the lesion on the laryngoscopic exam (green arrows). R: Right, L: Left, F: False vocal fold, V: Ventricle, T: True vocal fold.
